Southwest Colorado is home to Montezuma County and the City of Cortez. This region serves as an anchor for the Colorado boundary of the Four Corners National Monument. From this perspective, it is a central focal point within the western U.S and is an epicenter of diverse culture and geography.
The climate is very comfortable, with relatively mild winters and distinct seasons that blend from one to another. Fall stands out with dramatic colors, related color festivals, and scenic byways for day trips. Daytime summer temperatures regularly reach the 80s with evening temperatures descending into the 60's. Cortez is nestled between several mountain ranges set on a gently sloping valley facing the southwest, for excellent garden growing and a comfortable level of year-round warmth.
